I know color is associated with transition metals. But that narrows the answer choices down to AgCl and CuSO4. Why is the answer CuSO4, and isn't Ag a transition metal?

I had the same question but just know that the answer isnt gold. I might have posted this question a while ago on sdn you could do a search fo it and see what otehrs had to say about it.

Ag is one of the evil 3. Ag Pb and Hg are all insoluble at all times. Therfre it does not give color, because it doesnt dissolve.
