Consider a vessel with argon gas. This vessel is now replaced with helium gas. If both vessels contain 10 moles of gas, which is true?

A) The pressure of the container will change
B) The temperature of the container will change
C) The density of the container will change
D) The number of molecules in the container will change
E) More than one of these

The answer is C according to the formula

P(mw) = D R T

so I see that when you change the molecular weight(mw), then the density(D) would also change but isn't it supposed to change the temperature(T) also?

why is the answer only C

thanks.

n = PV/RT will always be 10 because you didn't change the amount of moles in the vessel. Thus PV = nRT means both sides of the equation are constant for each gas, regardless of identity.

I am not sure all this is correct, but I'll have my go

A: 22.4 L/mol is a vital thing to remember. Both those moles will occupy the same space

B: PV/T=PV/T since the number of moles is the same nothing changes.

C: density is mass over volume. The mass has changed

D: Each mole has 6.022*10^23 molecules Forever

E: Only C works

I hope that is all correct, and it works. Good luck
