The solution states that K2Cr2O7 would show color. Can anyone explain why?

I understand that transition metals often show color (reason being because partially filled d subshell?).

In K2Cr2O7, Cr would be +6 oxidation state.
Since Cr is [Ar] 4s1 3d5, Cr+6 is just [Ar]. So, there would be no d subshell electrons to show color?

Please let me know where I'm making a mistake. Thanks!
