OK i want to make a thread to inform everyone and i will continue to post a new thread everyday if its what it takes in order to properly inform people about the destroyer. So we have already sorta found out that the destroyer is no longer affective as it used to be in all the subject except for the organic section (im not going to bash this section). I can say this as a fact since i took the DAT the other week and most of the information was not covered (i knew the destroyer in and out). Lets think outside of the box here. In the last couple of years the DAT scores have reached an ultimate high and dental schools are confused and dont know what to do as they are turning away applicants with 19-20+ scores. The ADA has taken action by changing the format of the questions and the kind of questions that are asked. I have a strong feeling that the ADA is not dumb and will not allow people like DAT Destroyer to recover questions from the exam and place it in a book with other few questions to make it look like its done by chance. I think we need to expose this to other students who are using this book as a main source of studying material. There is no math on the gen chem section of the DAT then why woud we waste valuable time doing all those math problems when it is not crucial. Furthermore, I would like to be the first one to put it in plain text that Nancy and Dr.Romano "nice act" is a bunch of bull. They are willing to talk to you for about once or twice but more than that you become a monkey on a shoulder. I have called and e-mailed; spoke with Romano once for 2 minutes and he was rude talked fast and wanted to get off the phone. Second, why do we talk to Nancy? She told me she is not a bio major has not studied bio and does not know much about bio. Has anyone else talked to her on the phone and after a long conversation in which where you drew no additioanl information from the conversation? Shes only there to make you feel more relaxed about taking he exam. Also, I was promised a call back from Romano ... two weeks passed and no call. I was also promised the updated questions ... two weeks went by and i took the exam without the new questions. So lets make an effort to inform mutual students ... i know its competitive to get into dental school but it must be a combined effort.

Well, I think you need to take it easy there for a moment. I think it is clear that you don't like the Destroyer and that's fine--everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, and I think that is not a problem. I do not think, however, that harping on this everyday is going to mean anything.

I do share you thought, however, about why there are a certain few questions on the Destroyer that are almost identical to the real test. My only guess is that some of Romano's students must have told him about them after the test. I am not sure if this is a good thing in the long run, because the ADA will just keep pulling the rugs from our feet and we could face a harder and harder exam.

Those are your scores. If you studied as much as you said, you messed up somewhere. I feel sorry for the minds behind Destroyer, because they have to listen to empty headed *****s like you who call and ask ridiculously stupid questions. They run a local business in NYC, catering to the intelligent. If I were him, and you called up and it was absolutely apparent that you are a *******, I'd cringe at the thought of calling you back too.

Now, I know you were sitting there rockin the Rocky theme while you were typing that, because you said things like "let me be the first to say" and you said 'I' or 'I'm' a million times. Your world is wrapped around yourself. Wake up already.

You screwed up. No one else. Go work hard, read more, study harder, and retake the DAT. Or make more asinine posts like lor so you get banned. In the meantime, kids like myself are going to study Destroyer and other items properly. But its okay, once we get those high high scores, you can just post about how they must be all lies! We both win by me working hard!

There is nothing the ADA can do about the gchem and ochem sections. The material contained in those sections is TIMELESS. They can tweak it all they want, but if you use a comprehensive study guide, the probability will be high for a good score (20+). Furthermore, let's face it...DAT gchem and ochem is very straightforward. This isn't the Chemistry GRE or MCAT. No hair splitting questions, nothing like that.

That being said...you can use a variety of sources to ace those sections. Kaplan, Destroyer, ACS study guides, AP study guides..etc. On an individual basis, some guides may work better for others. I've seen a lot of guides...I like Destroyer the best. However, that's just my opinion.

What I can say for sure...whatever guide you use for gchem and ochem, if you pour your heart into it, the net result will be the same regardless of what guide you use.

Ok, moving onto Bio. Yes, this is one section that may have gotten harder over the years. However, this is due to the vast nature of the material. There is nothing you can do but study your brains out, and hope Mary picks up the phone when you call her.

There is nothing wrong w/ having a study guide that reflects the true content of the exam material (question type, subject nature, etc). Topscore, and achiever were all created under the same premise. However, Destroyer is the only one that updates itself. Therefore, I think Destroyer gives you that extra edge. For a section like Bio, every edge helps.

There is a question in the destroyer with your name on it. My friend saw that exact question on his test. Thoughts?

I thought it was cool to have my sn on a problem in Destroyer

I thought it was cool to have my sn on a problem in Destroyer

yeah but the thing is, the question with your name on it got updated in the destroyer right after you took the test, and my friend got the same problem about a week later. He wasn't too happy about it though - he just thought it was strange to have such "coincidence."

There is a question in the destroyer with your name on it. My friend saw that exact question on his test. Thoughts?

So, you're saying your friend saw that exact same question on his test? That is an original Destroyer question. It's copyrighted material...there is no way it could have been word for word on his exam.

Not word for word, but he said it was 99.9% the same. And I don't think that it was only my friend who saw that question - other people posted on SDN that the question showed up on actual DAT. strange coincidence, don't you think?

Actually, they can make the test much harder. Sure, the nature of the content might be the same, but they can always make the questions harder, ala the Biology section. From some of the old tests, it is clear that bio has migrated away from a knowledge-based, memorization test to a conceptual one that requires much more integrated thinking. Same goes for RC. No longer will one be able to get a 25+ by simply being efficient at hunting details, but a basic understanding of the structure of the passages, as well as its tone, is needed. So I definitely think that the room is there for ADA to make the Chemistry sections much, much harder. Let's hope they don't go there, though.

Now, despite the fact that I credited the Destroyer with my score, I think there is a growing sentiment on here that Destroyer is a magic pill. It isn't. People should reserve judgment for themselves on whether it is worthwhile to purchase a $150 book that, in format at least, is simply a quiz-and-answer publication. Perhaps the most important thing about the DAT is how solid your college education was, and how committed you are in getting a good score for your application dossier.

Really, how did you come up w/ the exact figure of 99%. What formula did you use to get that exact number of 99%. I've very curious to know...

Also, please post those thread you're referring to.

I cannot give you the specific details of the problem here because that would be violating the law. But I am sure you know what I am talking about - so will many others who saw that question. Bro, judging from your posts, you seem like a nice guy with a great future ahead of you (and you did great on the DAT, so you will definitely get into a great school) - you might want to be slightly more cautious on what you do. Not trying to accuse you of anything.

:laugh: Nice Jonathan. Seems like it's the students that do bad on the test that are complaining the most. Couldn't have said it better myself.

you guys need to stop whining so much. inform the public all you want but unless if that's what you like to do in your free time I'd much rather be doing something else more productive like studying for the test. No one cares what you think so making a thread everyday won't get you anywhere. good luck and I hope to see your persistence. I'll be waiting to call on your bluff.

My life isn't on SDN so I might not respond for a while. woohoo for SDN trolls!!!:laugh::laugh:

Look buddy, you're the one who drew first blood. You know nothing about me ok. This "coincidence" you talk about.

"Slightly more cautious on what you do."

You should watch it right there ok. Because you are accusing me of something. What exactly should I be cautious about? I'm sure you know what I'm talking about as well.

Again, you know absolutely nothing about me. Don't sit there and make some sort of baseless accusation against me, then back off.

Do you really want me to go over the question in details here? They are almost the same, word by word( just changing the real DAT question by adding some bull**** alien stuff in the question doesn't make it a different one).
You know it - so does many others who saw the question on the test.

Considering your score distribution (across the board average), I'd say that it wasn't any particular study matieral that was your problem, but your study habits. There are many people (myself included) who felt that the study materials available were sufficient. I used Kaplan, Achiever, Topscore, and Destroyer and found each of them useful in some way.

You should evaluate your study habits and make adjustments instead of trying to place the blame on the materials you used.

So, now you apparently "know what I know..." you must be some kind of mind reader.

Again, you know NOTHING. You have absolutely zero credibility...judging from YOUR previous posts, you are nothing but a troll.

This is a complete waste of my time. Again, if you want to accuse me of something, then provide something substantial. If not don't say anything at all.

Ok, you win. Keep up the good work!!! It must be just magical force that made the exact same problem appear on the real DAT right after the question with your name on it was updated on the Destroyer right after you took the test! Wow, and other people seem to say that "mountain" question was on their test too!! Apparently there are many questions that can be made with the "top of the mountain" asking for "the same specific answer" - within a week after you took the test!!!
You win!!

You make it sound like the Marines are going to drop in and drag him away to Gitmo if you unleash the fury of what you know. I highly doubt the ADA will be filing suit anytime soon based on vague accusations made on an anonymous message board.

dddoch, I used to have so much respect for you. You've been an active member on SDN and have helped others with DAT questions while you were prepping. I think others feel the same way and you should stop this immature act right now. Look at your convo with poc. You sound like a child.

Let's come from your point of view. If you're taking a Kaplan course and your whole class put all the test questions they knew in a test bank only available to this exclusive class would that be fair that they get this advantage and no one else does? Assuming your assumption is true, then wouldn't the destroyer be a book that would give everyone fair game? The destroyer wasn't even meant for students like us. It was meant for his students only. I'd do your research first before flaming about all of this. With that said...I can bet money that there are other books similar to the destroyer that has EXACT questions on the test. Why? Is it fair? No. Is life fair? No. Does it even the playing field for other test takers so they have the same "advantage?" Yes. Get over it.

oh, and by the way, another way you might not have interpreted how questions are made on the destroyer are students report back how the test was and he puts a similar question but also puts in other concepts in as well for students to learn. Everyone knows the bio section hasn't been the greatest but everyone also says understand the answer choices because it goes over a lot. I think it's a smart way to put similar questions presented on the DAT because you aren't surprised when you're taking the real deal. I guess it's a difference in opinion.

No need to search any further....

I found the most famous one. 3tquest.com

Here are some quotes from the website:

"A handful of repeated DAT questions crucially consolidated here."

"Using cohesive knowledge retained from the actual exam itself, Fam had initially and carefully derived the DAT sample tests under syllabus specified by the ADA...."

dddoch, You seem to be on the same boat as mydat. You're just not coming out w/ it.

Furthermore, you need to clearly define what an EXACT question is. Have you seen both questions w/ your own two eyes? Or are you simply going on hearsay? Again, I'd really like to see how you deduced a percentage of 99.9%accuracy....

I got tired of waiting for you to provide the posts about people seeing the EXACT question on their DAT.

So, I did a search myself. Nobody on SDN said they saw the EXACT question. In fact, if you do a search yourself, you'll see that only two people have mentioned the "mountain" question. One is from June and the other is from December of last year.

Lame excuse.

The only lame thing about these repeated threads are the people that start them, and then fuel their existance. Again, this is NOT constructive, it just starts flame wars and takes up space. We're all here to help each other(well, at least some of us are), and most of us are headed to professional school--so why don't we all just act like it.

If you have a problem with Destroyer, take it up with its creators.

Additionally, attacking other members of the forum is a great way to make yourself look like an a$$. congratulations.

For the OP who's bashing the destroyer...what better resource do you have to suggest? I've been reading sdn for a while and it seems as if the Destroyer is one of the best resources out there. (I personally love it) Every resource will have its strengths and weaknesses. I think it's up to you to utilize as many as possible and not just focus on one book. Just my opinion.

I know most people here talk about their wonderful experiences with romano and nancy but ill have to say my experience was very different. Before i bought destroyer i had a few questions so i emailed orgoman and got a response within hours. After i got the product i sent an email b/c i didnt understand something and didnt get a response...so i assumed maybe he was on vacation or just busy so i asked a few people on SDN if they were able to get in touch with them and they said they were. So then i thought he may have overlooked the email so i sent him a message to his SDN account...orgoman22 and still got no response. Needless to say am pretty dissappointed b/c one of the reasons i bought the book was b/c everyone said hes very helpful when you dont understand things.

these posts are getting too repetative. people need to chill out a bit. Use whatever you feel comfortable using. take advice from people and my recommendation is to try whatever you can get your hands on. I always opt for many scources and use the ones i feel most useful. Most people I talk to appreciate Destroyer and Cliffs. others like kaplan, topscore and achiever. I have them all and plan to use them all. take ur pic without being bitter with what u dont like.

goodluck all

the excuse you didn't get a call back from them isn't a good one. I am sorry, but in business with two people running the show its hard to do customer support and answer everyones questions. Also if it was that big of an issue call them sometimes email and pm isn't the best for them. anyway any question you could have problems with on the destroyer can be solved by looking it up in a textbook or online.

with regards to this thread some immature dingus is upset about his score and doesn't know how to study so he decides to bash some very respectable people. In the real world and in professional school this type of behavior is not acceptable. The opener of this thread and all non productive threads needs to really reexamine their professional pursuits and understand that life isn't easy and you have to work hard to achieve something.

Well if the destroyer had all the questions 2 the dat’s then any brainless fool could get into dental school by memorizing the ans. The destroyer is a wet towel loaded with allot of information in a question ans format. Since the dat has raised its level due to high scores and you where incapable of achieving the score you wanted. Please don’t embarrass yourself any more then you all ready have!

Good luck on your career!

Lame excuse.

dddoch, you still haven't answered any of my original questions. Right now, you're accusing someone of plagarism.

Furthermore, you insist that I was the source of an EXACT (or 99.9% according to you, please give me the method you used in your deduction) DAT question. What do you base this on...a vague time frame and my sn on a particular question.

It's a real shame that you have to go out of your way to turn something fun and harmless into a big deal.

To make things worse, you go about it in an arrogant smug manner. Like you know something that will get me hauled off to some Nazi concentration camp.:laugh::laugh:

Again, all you are basing this on is hearsay...nothing else. You haven't compared the questions side by side, yet you make the assumption of plagarism.

Plagarism is a pretty serious crime. You might want to have some substantial evidence to back up your accusations.

99.9% like the actual DAT question?

I don't know....while I was going through the gchem and ochem section of the DAT....I saw a few questions that resembled Kaplan questions, ACS exam questions, even a few questions I studied in an AP study guide.

Maybe I should take the deuche (that's you) approach and call up the ADA...and tell them "I know something you don't know..." then hang up...play cat and mouse for a few hours...then go in for the kill. I bet I can score a col 100 grand...whatta ya think?

i just want to say that i've been using the destroyer as my primary source of preparing for the DAT and i can sai that i think that there is nothing better for this test. And i have looked at a lot of other sources, and i can say with confidence that nothing comes close to the destroyer 😀

There is a question in the destroyer with your name on it. My friend saw that exact question on his test. Thoughts?

Either What you are saying is really strange or I don't get it. I have a destroyer book and I've never seen a name on a question???!!
What do you mean that there is a question with your name on it? Are you taking about DAT destroyer? That is abook (multiple chice qs book) and it has no name in it. I never saw any post of his about mountain, but even IF ( Abig IF) it is there, it doesn't mean anything. Haven't you seen people talk about their test after they get out??? You can't copy and sell it, but sure 100% you can talk about it and nothing can be held against anyone if they are talking about a question which appread on a test.

For those who have taken the DAT before the new version and have used the Destroyer are a poor representative of how usefull the product is in its current state. Poc91nc, yeah using your name in a questions from the destroyer is kinda funny ... just another romano slave. Fancymylotus ... im not here to fuel my existance if that was the case I would of become a member a bit sooner and caused controversy. Donsaxena, from your post its quite simply to see that your an easy pushover who doesnt mind paying for half commitments. Starting this thread was not intended to start fights amongst us but rather to shed some light on the manner. Over the course of the next few months my point about the destroyer will examplify itself by other posters with common results as I. I am happy to know that this post will be around for others in the future to see both sides of this destroyer manual. Let me put this in writting: Yes the destroyer is not a magic bullet and it even says that on the orgoman website but when you read threads about the destroyer it gets praised as if it where a magic bullet.
Right? For those who are genuine readers/poster and not some marketing puppet: Good luck to all on the exam and as well as getting into dental school. We represent a small fraction of the population in the professional field and to have come this far is already a major accomplishment.

You need to wake up and smell the coffee.

THERE IS NO "NEW" DAT!!!!!

People have been harping about a "new" dat for years now. Do your homework before you say something ridiculous like that.

Nobody has advertised the Destroyer as a magic bullet. Many times, including myself, people will come out and say that they used multiple sources.

You claim that you understood the concepts...you claim you studied hard. However, you fell flat on your face when it came to the DAT. YOU FAILED!!! You choked... End of discussion. You need to re-evaluate your study methods and go back to the drawing board.

In the grand scheme of standardized tests, the DAT is an absolute joke. You have no idea what a difficult standardized test looks like.

You're right about one thing....it is indeed a difficult journey. Thus, it follows, that YOU HAVE TO BE YOUR HARSHEST CRITIC. NOBODY IS GOING TO DO IT FOR YOU. PUTTING YOUR BLAME ON THE STUDY AIDS YOU USED ISN'T GOING TO GET YOU ANYWHERE. IF YOU HAVE TIME START A THREAD LIKE THIS, YOU SHOULD'VE TAKEN THE TIME TO MEMORIZE ONE MORE OCHEM REACTION. WORK ONE MORE PRACTICE PROBLEM. READ UP ON AN UNFAMILIAR AREA...ETC.

I really know the type of a student u are. U are not doing good on the exam u blame the teacher. In life there is always a way to blame someone, but lets think, may be u should blame ur self. destroyer is not here to give u exact questions from the DAT, It's on the market in order to give u heads up on the topics u should focus on. If u don't know how to study right why would u blame somebody. NO need to offend u I am sure ur GPA is Lower than 2.5 😀.

go study for the dats rather than complain ass!! you have only ******* to blame!!! DR. ROMANO IS THE ****!! no matter what anyone says bout it. lespaul go to school in mexico u might get cleard there buddy!!

Wouldn't it be illegal to write the actual questions up in the book?
Does the ADA know about the destroyer?? Maybe the ADA should be the judge on this issue. Just my thought.

When I took the DAT on 5/29, I did not see any exact DAT questions from Destroyer. The same goes for Achiever, Kaplan, and all the other study guides out there.

Did I see similar questions to the ones I studied? Yes, many of the questions were some variation of a question I had seen in Destroyer, Achiever, Kaplan tests, and various other study guides.

Yes, Benjamin, it is illegal to write actual questions up in a book, but the truth of the matter is....NOBODY HAS EXACT QUESTIONS. NOBODY CAN GIVE YOU EXACT QUESTIONS.

You see Benjamin, with regard to standardized tests, there are many common themes that repeat themselves. I was able to realize this from studies. Certain concepts tend to repeat for eternity...this represents the timeless nature of standardized tests. Even though Biology is a vast subject, it is NOT THE EXCEPTION. I can think of many themes and traps that test writters love to question students on. You'll encounter some of these themes in your university courses as well. In fact, a few DAT questions I encountered tested me on the same type of material that I was tested on in my upper division Bio courses. You are confusing similar themes and concepts with plagarism. But you are right....maybe the ADA should be the judge.

So, Benjamin, why don't you make it your civic duty to call the ADA. However, I will vouch that I saw many similar questions to other study guides as well. So, in all fairness, I will make it MY civic duty to round up the rest of the remaining scoundrels.

Benjamin, I saw a few DAT gchem questions that were very very similar to questions found in my gchem textbook. Only the numbers were different. Maybe you can tell me who is doing the plagarizing? Since you seem to be the expert in the detection of plagarism.

Oh, just one more thing...you say lots of people have reported seeing exact Destroyer questions on the DAT...just in case you missed it...there is a thread about EXACT DAT QUESTIONS FROM ACHIEVER. Hard to miss...it's the most viewed thread in this DAT forum. Maybe you should call the Achiever guy and tell him to reword his material before he finds himself sleeping with the fishes...

Seriously though...why you insist on picking on one person is beyond me. If you truly were looking at this objectively...you would realize that there are lots of sources that will have similar questions to what you see on the DAT...

If a student does poorly in an OChem class, should he blame the author of the text book for not returning calls? If one has a question in your Biology course, is calling the author of the book the best way to find the answer? Since when do we hold the author responsible for teaching us everything? I have never, ever heard of an author of a textbook being so accessible.

It always surprises me to see posts asking about certain specific science questions or reading posts asking how to get hold of Romano to ask questions. Have you not Wikipedia? Have you not friends who have taken science courses? Does your university not have professors or teaching assistants?

A book is but a tool, but you have to put in work. Should there be a disclaimer explaining this?

Learn how to study.

(this note was not meant to discourage anyone from asking science related questions on the forum...)

Do you really want me to go over the question in details here? They are almost the same, word by word( just changing the real DAT question by adding some bull**** alien stuff in the question doesn't make it a different one).
You know it - so does many others who saw the question on the test.

If it's true that the destroyer has actual DAT questions, doesn't that therefor make it a must-have resource? Is this seriously a complaint?

lespaul, I hope you become a dentist. I would love to see the headline:

"Local dentist drops drill in mouth and kills patient. The dentist, Dr. lespaul, blames the client's mouth for being evil and hating America, freedom, and Clive Owen."

Just kidding. Mature or get out of the field already.

jon ... I'm in the field already, more than you will ever be. All your posts fly right by becuase I have way too much self confidence to let some rookies tell me so. I'm over with this all and my point has been said and it will be proven over the course of the next few months. Good Day ________!

QUOTE: Bio: I know you guys read this a lot, so I'm not going to overdo it, but DAT Destroyer was so spot on with this it wasn't funny. Out of the 40 questions on my exam, I will swear to you that at least 16 were from the Destroyer word by word, it was creepy. The other questions were definitely more application based questions where you don't simply recall facts, but have to understand the concepts. I also used Achiever (way too detailed) and Topscore (again, way too detailed). I cannot emphasize enough how Destroyer really nails a lot of the questions. I was scoring around 18 or so on both Topscore and Achiever.

Sounds illegal to me.

Your confidence is apparently misguided, because your scores are total garbage compared to the time you claim to have put in. Therefore, you are either a liar or a complete *****. So far, it looks like both. You messed up and are now pointing elsewhere. Therefore, your confidence is actually arrogance (doubtful, as you have nothing on the majority of people here, reference your scores if necessary) or you are are confident in your subpar abilities. Neither will get you into dental school.

If you think you are more in the field than another predental, let alone myself, then you are thinking of the wrong sport.

Yes, you're right, if they were indeed word for word, it would be illegal. However, I have a hard time believing the claims of that person. Word for word is a very very far stretch. At best I think it's an exaggeration.

Again, from my experience, I saw many SIMILAR questions. Not word for word...Again, they tested similar content, question styles were similar...such themes seemed permeate the SNS section.

However, if they were word for word...I'm sure an organization like the ADA would've been one step ahead of you. Such violation of copyrighted material is a crime...I'm sure they would've cashed their settlement checks by now.

Do you really think someone who sells prep material to the general public is going to pirate actual, word for word, DAT questions? Maybe you are inclined to believe that, I don't...

Name one service that is better than Destroyer so far that even give you personal response on your many calls?

How's these guys hospitality:
Kaplan?
Barron?
Topscore?
Schaum?
ExamKracker?

Hahahaa, you gotta be a brick or troll if theirs is even close in responding your specific problem question.

It seems Destroyer is busier...but you just gotta call. He forgot to call for mine too, but hey you just gotta push for that phone call.

Achiever or CrackDAT is good in response but they only answer technical about and mostly about license and cost issue. Anything else about study...they're same as not calling.
