Hi! I'm thinking about retaking the DAT. And that means I may need to reapply for admissions next cycle. Grrr.

So, did anyone use the Destroyer and not do well on the DAT? If so, how long did you use and study the Destroyer. Did you commit a lot of time to using it? What are the criticisms about it, if any?

I haven't purchased it yet, but definitely forward to getting it. At this point, anything would help. And I've heard so many great things about it, but very curious to see what people who've actually spent time using them say about them as well.

I've read through many forums/threads about this material, and I'm very open to all opinions and advices about the Destroyer.

Thank you!!! 😎

honestly the destroyer is awesome, im taking my dats on saturday so i will tell you how i do--but it really is awesome-- each subject goes into exactly waht you need to know and what you don't, i kept forgetting things as i went on to review from subject to subject but the destroyer highlights what u need to know and what you don't... i was also skeptical on how "miracoulously" it could work so well.. but honestly it has- im not even studying biology from kaplan i just read through it once-- and im simply going through the destroyer a few times, its ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Dr. Romano and Nancy are both amazing, he spent 40 minutes on the phone with me just going through the organic seciton highlighting what to know! im waiting for him to call me back for the bio and gchem sections.. hopefully today! but i would HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.. amazing tool!

Wow. That sounds great. Good luck on your DAT, orthdent. Thank you, I now look forward to getting these materials. 😉

I used it extensively for only one section (Ochem) and that ended up being my lowest score. It was alright for everything else.

I only used it for a week before my test and I can definitely say that it boosted my science scores more than a few points. Remember, you can only get as much out of something as you put into it. That said, good luck, I hope you crush the DAT!

I used it extensively. Its definitely a great book but you have to know the basics to get the most out of it so get a good foundation before you start studying with the Destroyer.

I BOUGHT THE DESTROYER BUT, AFTER LOOKING OVER IT ... I DON'T THINK I HAVE A GOOD ENOUGH FOUNDATION OF THE BASICS YET. 🙁 WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND FOR GETTING IT! WEAK IN SCIENCES/MATH. THANKS IN ADVANCE 😳

The Destroyer is great if you've put in a lot of time studying the basics elsewhere. Studying Kaplan down to the last word would probably get you breaking the 20's in most subjects. If you add Destroyer to that... well, you'll be in really good shape. I haven't read of anyone on the forum that bought it and regretted it... it seems to have helped us all out. I think I went through Kaplan's book (and their subject tests) maybe 4 or 5 times over, word for word, not just reading through but actually studying it. I got Destroyer 5.5 days before my DAT... and I think that's really what pushed me over.

Having said that, I wouldn't risk waiting to the last minute to get it. It worked for me with only a few days left, and I know it worked for lifeisgood with the same circumstances, but that might not be the case for everyone. The Destroyer is the "icing on the cake," so to speak. You still need a cake, though. Once you've done all you think you can do with Kaplan, TopScore, Achiever, etc., move on to Destroyer. As for as o.chem. goes, for example, it'll bring together all the info that you learned elsewhere in a concise manner and make you see things as a whole picture rather than just a billion little reactions.

Read through my "guide" (link below) and see what you can take from that.

Best of luck to you, and ask questions as freely as they come to your mind. We're here to help.

Thanks for all the postings, everyone! I finally bought the Destroyer this afternoon. Nancy says that I'll receive the shipment tomorrow- I'm psyched. I can't wait to use it.

I'll definitely read through Kaplan a few more times and make sure I have the strong foundations in the subjects before I use Destroyer tomorrow. Now, it's all up to me to use these materials efficiently. Thanks again, everyone! Good luck! 😉

i been monitoring the users who used dat destroyer. dat destroyer's general chemistry will not guarantee you a higher score. one predental got 17 in gc section but when he used the destroyer the 2nd time he also got a 17. dat destroyer's organic chemistry section will not guarantee a higher score, one predental's oc score went down by using the dat destroyer. the math is the worst subject because if u get mostly word problems in the dat the dat destroyer's math book will not be helpful. some other used it and got higher scores because they were smart. they had 4.0+ gpa or higher , but in my opinion MANY who used the dat destroyer lied about their scores. to this day i am not sure if the dat destroyer is helpful or not.

Last cycle you barely heard about destroyer and this cycle it is everywhere. Either people are just noticing it or Romano is doing a hell of a job marketing it. I hesitate to believe it is as amazing as people say.

Haha, I was skeptical at first (still am) but then I realized that what may work for one predent may not work for another. I know some people who only used Kaplan materials and got into Columbia. Maybe it's all marketing for Destroyer, but then I also hear that there were a few brave individuals who ventured out and found out about this Destroyer, and was nice enough to share about it to everyone else when they definitely saw score results.

I will try it out tomorrow, and see how it goes. Better to find out myself, then to regret not having it. 😉 Feel free to PM me about it, if you're curious. I'll let you know how I truly feel about the materials...if you believe my opinions. 🙄

I love it when people say that theyve spent money on Kaplan Achiever and Topscore and then cry about the 150 that Destroyer costs...isnt Kappy like 1200+? We dont work for Romano, hes just awesome, and so is his product.

Take it easy chico. People are entitled to their opinions.

Whatever. Those $150 don't mean jack in the grand scheme of things. I would buy all of them is I had the dough.

i've spent 1200 bucks on kaplan-- an "instructor" who scored high on the DATs but doesnt know how to teach-- and some practice test and a book.. compared to awesome questions plus one on one phone calls to go through the book for 150 bucks (from someone who teaches this stuff everyday)... you guys can do the math, which one is more worthed? btw just got off the phone with dr. romano-- 12:22am he's helping me until the last minute-- i can't thank them enough!

If you search back...you'll see even aranjuaz was a skeptic too. He originally didn't want to buy it...but eventually decided to buy it. I was skeptic too until amsie and lifeisgood got it and saw several others bought it so I thought I have to, at least, have wahtever they study off and will decided for myself afterward. It is not magic pill. It's just helps you in getting straight to the point rather. A super race car alone will not guaranteed a win, it's how the driver drives it. Same here, destroyer alone will not guaranteed high score in every category, it's how you use or study it). You can't expect to give it to someone who doesn't study and expect to score high. It's good material, if you know how to study, you can use it to your advantage.

Get the destroyer- If you do not like it or if it does not help you, then you probably did not read it all or do all the questions.

It costs 150 and you will spend 100k plus in dental school. Whatever it takes to get it. It "worked" for me and I have been out of school a few years. If you know the material in the Destroyer, it will help you get a great score.
