this one is a reaction question.
the question is...
whats the product when 2-butanol undergoes K2Cr2O7 / H3O+ and then, I2 excess/OH- and then H3O+ .
I get it through K2Cr2O7 / H3O+ where it becomes a ketone, but from there on, I don't understand how it loses one carbon and get oxygen instead. (ketone becomes a carboxylate ....)
can anyone explain this?? 😕
