the reaction has a Cl being added to a two ringed compound with an EDG and EWG on it, now i know EDG wins out and directs when on a ring with an EWG but the answer shows the para position being major and ortho minor, i got this right but idk why para is major and ortho minor is this a set rule or does it vary due to certain condtions, thanks...

para is major because of less steric hindrance I believe

hmm i see, so ortho can be major if it has less steric hindrance than para in other situations?

however for this question yes i see para is major bc no sterics...thanks!
