I am curious why the answer is E and not D, Q# 57 for Orgo section
 
can you describe the question better?

I'm guessing you ahve the 2011 edition. the questions have been reshuffled so from the 2010 edition.

Radical stability has same trend as carbocation.
D is tertiary radical while E is allylic tertiary radical.
Allylic and Benzylic carbocation/radicals have higher stability than of the regular ones. Meaning secondary allylic/benzylic C+/ radical has similar stability to tertiary C+/radical
