I've got a couple questions dealing with the above. I'd be really grateful if anyone could answer even one of the questions listed:

1. If I applied to dental school after junior year, does it mean that all prerequisites have to be finished by the end of your junior year? Or can prerequisites be completed as long as it's before admission?

2. Similarly, if I applied after senior year I know I will have a gap year, but will it be acceptable to take a prerequisite during the summer before the gap year? What about taking it during the gap year itself?

Many thanks!

i think for prereqs, as long as you complete them before the summer of the year of matriculation, you're fine.

for DAT: you can submit ur application the summer of ur senior year and take the DAT at the same time. ( u can submit without DAT scores) --this will result in a gap year.

however, if you take the DAT in Aug or later, then your app is considered late and your chances of admission diminish quickly. if that happens, you will have to apply again next summer, which will result in 2 gap years.

Thanks for the reply! I haven't been able to get consistent answers about whether taking prerequisites after application is accepted.
