Hey guys,

I got a packet in the mail the other day inviting me to an open house at detroit mercy... I'm assuming this is can't be equated to an interview invite, but how important do you think it is that I go?

I don't live too far away, so I could go, but for the people who have interviews there already, did they invite you to an open hosue first? Was everyone who applied invited? Let me know 🙂

As a current student, I highly recommend you do. It'll give you an opportunity to check out the facilities first hand, and meet the wonderful faculty. I went for my application year, and found it to be very enlightening; upon leaving the school that day, I knew exactly where I wanted to be come the start of my dental education. If you do choose to go, I hope you have a great experience, too.

As far as I know, everyone who applies gets an invite to the open house.

Any malls or anything to do near by the school? My gf might go I was wondering if there is anything to keep her occupied for a few hours.

I live far away... will have to fly over there to attend the open house...
Do you think it is worth spending money on flight & hotel just to attend this open house?
I mean...I didnt get invited for interview so i'm not sure if it will do anything.
Will I get a chance to meet with the dean and talk about my application and stuff?

I would love to go there...it seems like they are really friendly,,,updating my application status monthly, etc...

Plz someone let me know!!!

Thanks! 😍

yeh, I am a michigan resident, and I live about 20-30 minutes away. They already started interviewing and I wasn't invited, I pretty much washed my hands from Mercy lol.... I will go to the open house just because they are close to me, if I had to fly, I prolly wouldn't go because I dun think I have a chance with them at this point

Admissions only recently started handing out interviews for this cycle. They interview well into the new year; many of the students in my class got interviews and acceptances in Jan/Feb/Mar.

Be patient! The open house is a great way to show the administration that you're interested about the school. I'll be volunteering my time during the day, so I hope to see some of you there.

Hey thanks for the insight scoop and I'm planning on attending the open house! Is there a certain attire/dress code we should abide to while there?

i think most people who get interviewed at mercy get accepted

the open house is probably not that important to go to.

on a side note, udm faculty are some of nicest, humble professors i have ever met. very friendly ppl

good luck!

You'll see an array of attire. I think admissions would tell you to wear 'casual' attire. Though you will see people in suits and ties.

I personally wore a suit and tie.
