Musculoskeletal Practice After Residency
The Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation (PASSOR) developed a document for residents graduating from PM&R residency training programs to assist in their career choices for musculoskeletal medicine. There are a wide variety of experiences available, and this document will attempt to sort out the scope of considerations, from fellowships to private practice, from academia to multi-specialty groups. The discussion in the document examines some of these important decisions in more detail.
Regardless of the intended path, it is important to obtain legal representation in any and all agreements. During recruitment, it is comfortable to believe a verbal agreement will be honored and that written agreements are reasonable. Nevertheless, it is strongly recommended that legal counsel be employed to review any arrangement before a commitment is made. This action will not only provide education about contractual law, but potentially prevent an unpleasant situation in the future.
