I wanted to ask any of you pre-med folks who have taken Dev. Biology was the class worth it? Did it help for MCAT or later down the line in med school? Or was it a useless class in which you memorized a bunch of facts which never came up outside of the course.

Attached Image is the course content. Would appreciate your feedback!

I haven't taken this exactly, but similar courses. The ones I took were definitely more interested in larger themes and patterns. I enjoyed it. Depending on the exact syllabus, this looks like it covers a number of topics that are in the bio section (albeit not specifically for humans like it would be on the MCAT).

I took a similar biology course but only up to the first exam wAs on development. I enjoyed the material enough and it helped for when studying for the mcat a bit but professor was horrible so it kinda sucked. If you're professor is well liked then I'd say go for it. If you don't need it for your major though and you're not really interested in it then don't bother. There are plenty of courses that you can take instead.

I took a developmental biology course. I loved it and, while not directly useful for the MCAT, some of those concepts come back in upper level biology courses. Also the material is just interesting as hell in my opinion. 10/10 would take again.

I took a Dev Bio class and absolutely loved it! Although only certain parts were directly applicable to the MCAT, my class involved a lot of reading/interpreting primary literature which I think will hopefully help me on the Bio passages. I'd look into whether that is involved in your particular class.

I became sick for three weeks and had an exam a week later (today). I think I will get 80-90 depending on how its graded. 93 is an A no curve.

10% get A... I don't need this course and it's not science gpa should P/NP or drop this course with no W.

I loved the course. I think it covers a lot of material that you don't get in other Biology classes, and truly demonstrates how biochemical processes and cell signaling are essential. It was one of those classes where the "Why?" was often met with "we aren't sure yet", and the professor was notorious for saying "now, we don't know how, but this causes this to happen..." It was incredibly interesting, and the field is still developing! I ended up taking this course and an advanced developmental course during college. Was it helpful on the MCAT? Nope. Medical School? Not really. It's just really interesting stuff.

Thank you, I'm sure it has some use for the mcat.

One of my favorite classes at my undergrad institution. The MCAT is full of concepts that need to be memorized, but a good chunk of it is critical thinking and problem solving. Dev Bio had a lot of that going on, at least that's how my prof tested so it can definitely help you develop into a better test taker. Hopefully every class does. Course, why the hell would I care about all the steps of a fly developing.....those parts were less fun.
