Base Salary - $68,000 - $72,000

The Dietitian Consultant provides clinical nutritional and dietetic services to patients and their families directed at supporting and maximizing the nutritional status and adjustment of the patient.



Job Description - Dietitian-Dialysis





Duties and Responsibilities:

Assess the nutritional and related dietetic needs of each patient, including current dietary patterns; food preferences, selection, and preparation; and level of understanding of dietary intervention as a prescribed treatment.

Consult with the physician regarding assessment and clinical data and recommends therapeutic diets to meet the needs of the patient.

Counsel patients and their families on the prescribed diet, including nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection and preparation, economics and adaptations required to best match the prescribed diet to the patient's lifestyle.

Document in the medical record an initial assessment of each patient and at least monthly progress notes which reflect all clinical nutritional and dietetic services provided. These shall include identification of current problems, current goals and the actions planned to achieve goals, and evaluation of patient progress.

Participate in team review of each patient to develop both long and short-term plans, to review patient progress, and to recommend changes in treatment based on the patient's current nutritional and dietetic needs.

Assist other personnel through education and direction to support the dietetic services program by learning to deal effectively with nutritional and dietetic problems as they arise.

Assume responsibility for his/her own continuing education including participation in professional organizations related to ESRD patient care management.

Participate in staff meetings or in-service education meetings when requested by the Unit Administrator.



Dietitian services are obtained through contractual agreement based on an hourly fee, not to exceed a specified number of hours per patient per month set for each facility.

Qualifications:



Currently recognized as a Registered Dietitian by the American Dietetic Association.
At least one year experience in clinical nutrition
