I searched online for this but couldn't find a reason...why are Factors 5 and 8 the main ones that get consumed during DIC? I would think all of the factors would be equally.

These are not the main factors consumed since all are consumed but these are the factors that help you distinguish them from Vitamin K deficiency and Liver Disease. Factor V is made in the liver but it is not affected by Vitamin K. Factor VIII is unaffected in liver disease because it is in the Reticuloendothelial System (RES) macrophages so they are not injured.

In DIC, you see a decline in both and that is a tip off that it is DIC.
