Hi everyone! Does anyone know how they look at your GPA? I did 4 years of undergrad in Canada followed by 2 years of dental hygiene program at a college. I don't really know if they look at both of my college and university GPA together or separate... since they didn't mention anything about this on the website.
I had my consultation on the 13th Feb under the rate up. The consultation itself was pretty lax, since it seemed like they just preferred to fulfill me and get to know me better. I saw from a previous blog page that the actually dean comes to the consultation, but I only got the online dean, so i think they modify. i do not think my situation is just like yours since I analysis in the US, but my academic record is very fantastic. i wish u the best of lot of money getting one too annababy!
Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has received either a conditional/firm offer yet? I got a conditional offer today from the faculty but they still haven't specified what "conditions" must be fulfilled before it becomes a firm offer. I hope you guys have had more updates than me. Also, whereabouts are you guys from - UK, Canada...anyone from Australia XD?
Wow, I think your result must be very impressive! Do you know were any other offers given out to other applicants? I am a CUHK final year student with only an average GPA 3.0..... Do you think I am possible to be branted an interview? Since they told me to check the status from early May, but my status is still under consideration now. Do you think I still have chance? And do you know how many fast track applicants got an offer? Also, when did you get an interview? Sorry for too many questions.... Actually I applied in last October through the fast track but still receive no news...At the moment I'm in 2nd year physiotherapy at Sydney Uni so I applied with my university results from last year. I don't believe the faculty gives precedence over university applicants but as long as your exam results are decent enough to warrant an interview, you're over half-way there. I just maintained an HD average and somehow managed to get an interview. To answer your first question I hold both Australian and Hong Kong passports but since I'm applying with my HKID, I'm technically a "local". Anyways, there's still plenty of time left so don't worry too much. They've already given out offers to fast-track people but now they're just starting with main round applicants. I wish you all the best for getting in 🙂
Results are just a baseline measure...everyone applying basically have the same results. The discriminator was how you conveyed yourself in the personal statement. I think the faculty wants to see people excel or at least participate in a multitude of activities outside the academic arena. But for you, your GPA is already very good especially since you're in your final year at CUHK which is very reputable and as I've found out this year, the more you progress in university, the harder it is. The faculty should take that into consideration. Also, I've read online on another forum that a few people were granted really late interviews around June/July and even August so you still have a chance. At the moment, only one person contacted me saying they got an offer but otherwise, no. And for your last question, I received my interview invitation in late March and had the interview two weeks later in early April. Hope this helps...
I understand how uneasy the waiting process can be so Iet me share my case here. I am a main round applicant that has completed my degree. I received an offer on early May.
Like Andy said, academics are just baseline measure but IMO, it is harder to have an interview before you complete your degree unless they are very sure you can get great results on your final year.
I do not understand the GPA/Honors system in CU. I think if you are sure can get 1st class honors / 2nd up before you graduate, then you will have a relatively higher chance.
But this is just my case and opinion. Also, the selection process is still going on as we speak. So don't lose heart 🙂 I wish you best of luck.
Hi Andy, I find that practicing as a physiotherapist in Australia is quite good, may I know why you still want to work in HK?At the moment I'm in 2nd year physiotherapy at Sydney Uni so I applied with my university results from last year. Hi andylee,
by giving out "offers" do u mean "offers for interview" or "offers of admission"? I'm new here and I applied for HKU BDS as a late non-jupas applicant and I really really wanna get into HKU!!
To all,
I 'm an international student here by the way! Taking the IB!
@Annababy: hey i know u from another student forum!
hey,when did u apply?
As you applied as a late non-jupas applicant, does that mean you're not a hk resident
and u don't speak cantonese?
I also applied as a non-jupas applicant and i sent all my documents last december.
But my documents were lost accidentally and the lady finally sent them to the faculty in May. And I heard that they had already stopped sending offers to international students.
so it's really chaotic and suffocating now : (
anyway, if u're being invited to an interview, pls tell me.
thanks a lot![]()
Hi Peppermint1009,
Yes, I'm not a HK resident. I speak only minimal cantonese. A pity that your documents were lost and and sent in May afterwards. Hopefully they will review your case😉. i really do hope that they will give out more offers because I really wanna get in. Since you applied as non-jupas student, may I know which exam you took? I took the IB with 43/45 points. I have not heard from HKU at all and hope that I will be granted an interview. I will update you should any change appear for my application🙂
Good luck🙂
I studied in a normal high school in Taiwan so I took GSAT and prepared for SAT1 and 2 by myself. So I have no idea about IB but your score sounds like super score!?
I got 2000+in SAT1 and 780,750,720 in uMath2,Chem and Physics and I'm recommended by my school to hku ( like honors students?) so I think they're fine but what I'm worrried about is that they stop giving out offers.
Anyway when did you apply and where are u from? Singapore , Malasia or Indonesia? I've heard that most of the international students are from those places.
Keep contact and fingers cross for both of us.
Hey all! Did anyone get any news from the bds program recently? My status is still under consideration and they r not returning my emails. I'm just wondering if anyone is in the same situation as I am and heard any updates or news.
