Right now I am a Junior. I know it is hard to judge, but basically to summarize my grades I got all As and Bs in my courses throughout my career, but I got one C+ in genetics and a C+ in microbiology sophomore year

Freshman year: 3.7 Fall, 3.6 spring
Sophomore Year: 3.2 fall, 3.2 spring

So cumulatively, I had a 3.45 GPA

Then I transferred to another school

I got a 3.67 fall of junior year

but this semester, spring of my junior year, I got a C in physics and a D in Developmental and Cell Biology. This left me with a 2.57, my lowest GPA ever. I will be re-taking the cell biology class in the fall, but I still need to apply and go through my interviews with that terrible semester to report. Will they see this semester and immediately write me off? I know that there are no excuses for doing that poorly, but in some of my defense I am a type 1 diabetic, and for the first time ever I had problems with my health and my blood sugar was acting up all semester.

I know you cant tell my chances without my OAT, but I want to know if I just ruined my chances by messing up that last semester. SUNY looked over my grades and told me I had strong grades, but I am not totally convinced they were giving an honest opinion...

Ill be applying to SUNY, NECO, PCO, and MCPHS

Thanks!

One bad semester shouldn't hurt you! Explain what happened and do well on the OAT! Apply on time! Pray!

I wouldn't be too worried about one bad semester! It happens. If you re-take the class and improve grade, that will also look better but you shouldn't stress to much about one bad semester. Keep working hard to maintain the GPA you have or improve upon it. You do have a competitive GPA even after that bad semester so keep it up! Before your interviews be prepared to explain yourself just in case they ask. Plus your OAT score is weighed a little bit more than your GPA so make sure you do well on that!

Your GPA is fine and you have a good explanation for why you had a bad semester. Really comes down to scoring well on the OAT, but your GPA won't hold you back.
