Well my Pre-Dental club was just offering any Kaplan Course (up to $1699) for $900...did I screw up in not taking it? The only reason I didnt take it is because Ive heard several remarks on here saying its not worth it and I didnt want to pull the trigger on anything before I knew for sure. What do you guys think?

I personally think Kaplan is a scam. I'm taking the course over the summer and it is totally worthless 🙁 (maybe worth $20 but that's it). Many people hope Kaplan will make them smarter and a better test taker. I think the only way to improve the score is to really study hard. That's the ONLY way, there's no Kaplan magician.

KAPLAN CLASS is worthless b/c the class is taught by someone who took DAT few months ago and basically knows as much as you do! Buy the book and study it yourself. or sign up for online class if you cant find the subject test.

it's really hit or miss with kaplan. if you take the classroom course you just need to luck out and get a great teacher to get your moneys worth. lucky for me i did and it was very helpful. i also was unlucky enough to have a horrible substitute for the organic chemistry lectures so i've experienced the good and bad of the classroom course. all of the practice they give you is definately worth it (especially the flash cards) but i think you receive all of the materials with the online course which is almost half the price. i'd say if you have money and time to burn then take the course. it can't hurt.

as far as i remember, the online course was only 100$ cheaper than the classroom course. I am sure this is how it was at least in Seattle, Washington. I thought the class itself was not THAT great (again, hit and miss depending on the teacher) but i think all the subject tests and practice exams and books are valuable. But, I haven't taken the real thing yet, so i can't say for sure.

That's a good point. It's all about who the teachers are for your particular Kaplan class. I felt that mine were pretty good, so Kaplan wasn't a waste for me.

it looks like the prices have shot up since i last checked. it's already $200 more than just a few months ago (now at $1300 for classroom). i also could have sworn the online was just a fraction of the cost but now it's more than the price i payed for the classroom course back in january. $900 is definately a deal relative to the cost nowadays or even back in the day. now that i think about it... that was a lot of money i would like to have with me now for the cost of traveling to these interviews.

oh well... the test is over and i'm happy with my scores so at least i have no regrets about not using all the resources at my disposal. minus the destroyer (didn't hear about it til after the test). it's a shame since all the people who have used it seem to have 25+ science scores. too bad it's $150 just for one book :scared:.
