Did I get complete too late?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think UAB has not even sent its secondaries yet, so you are fine.

You might not be considered early early, since I know some people got multiple interview invites. But I don't think you are late, either. In other words, no worries!

Hello. My school's premed committee sent in letters late and I just got complete today on AMCAS (August 26th). I finished my secondaries by early July and got verified in July so I did all I could to be early.....

My stats are exceedingly average (31 MCAT, 3.7 sGPA, research, volunteer, etc). I applied to mostly mid tier schools, with my top choice being University of Alabama at Birmingham. Do you think i'm fine?

You are certainly not early, but I think that you have decent stats. There really is no way to know for sure at this point, but I think you'll be ok.

Eh, I can sympathize with that situation. I wasn't as on the ball as you (verified in August) but I had to wait over a week for my LOR and it was way worse than sitting now and waiting for schools :xf:

That's how it goes though, hopefully the committee said nice things about me 😀

Just be prepared for a long haul. Depending on your school selection and the rate at which they review applicants, you may be looking at some late interview invites.

Keep yourself busy to prevent insanity.

You're late, and there's nothing you can do about it. Get something else to keep your mind occupied and get off of this site.

Hope is not lost. Your stats are average, but average people always make it, or else they wouldn't be average.

I wouldn't call you early, but I wouldn't call you late either.

I was in a similar boat last year. I got verified late-July, but my pre-med committee refused to send out letters until six weeks after that, so I wasn't complete until mid-September. I still got plenty of interview invites and with your stats (which I would consider slightly above the average, excluding the MCAT) I am sure you'll get some love. Just schedule your interviews for as early as possible and kick butt.

I guess i'm roughly in the middle of the pack but everyone I see on SDN got complete in like July. Late August just feels...well late...🙁

I didn't complete until just a couple weeks ago and felt this way on SDN also. The verification thread is a great resource for feeling better - it is a very active thread and seeing people posting on it all the time kept me remembering that plenty of people (even on SDN) were getting verified the same time I was.

Thanks! I feel like SDN applies earlier than the applicant pool as a whole.

They do. It's one of the secret weapons SDNers have: apply as early as possible to maximize the number of IIs early on. Applying late, even with high stats, is a detriment that can be avoided very easily with good planning.

Alright thanks! I'm still kind of bummed how this happened and it was outside of my control.

im in the same boat as you - verified 8/30. the only thing we can do now that is under our control is submit secondaries ASAP. good luck!! :luck:

You'd only be considered "late" if you submitted all your paperwork in now. The med schools know it takes awhile to go from submitting to getting verified and then having those committee letters processed. Besides, you already finished your secondaries by July. You'll be fine.
