What exactly does it say if you did NOT match. One of my friends said he did not match, but I think he's pulling my chain.

sorry to hear that, you cantry in the scramble, 5 cat GS spots and about 470 prelim are available, try your best shot. hope it helps

I talked to two classmates with similar scores to you and who ranked more programs than you yet still did not match. Conclusion: this year is an especially tough match. The good news is that there are a lot of prelim positions open. Good luck.

btw, not sure that anyone cares, but I had changed my name to ikemae for the interview/match season (paranoid I know, but this name gives me away), so now I'm back and looking forward to hanging with my fellow surgeons in this forum for at least the next five years!!

2009 MAtch results have been displayed. You can check it out at NRMP website. It shows that 5 cat GS spots are unfilled. Last yr only 2 positions were unfilled. Obviously programs will have to scramble for them. 1 spot is open in west, south, and northeast each and 2 spots are open in central region. the names of the programs will be displayed for unmatched applicants tommorrow at 11:30 am....473 prelim spots are also open.

One thing surprising is that last yr there were 1400 (approx) prelim spots and this yr only 1151 went into match. Dont know why there was a reduction?😕 secondly last yr there were about 300 prelim spots were unfilled. this yr it is 470....despite reduction in total number of prelim spots.

Matched! And I must admit I feel rather fortunate after hearing about some of the horror stories this year, especially since I'm a carib-IMG.
