Did Marquette send out all their interviews???

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know how many people they interview per day at Marquette? I just noticed the website has only 3 resident interview days and they are all filled. They accept 40 residents each year, so I would think they would interview 80-ish people total, which would mean about 25 people per day!

Or maybe I should just ask how many residents they interview for the 40 spots.

Thanks!

I want the $200 I spent on Marquette back! My aadsas was sent out on the 1st of september and I feel like they didn't even look at my application. Their website says for optimum consideration have everything here by the first, but they don't tell us that 'hey we only look at pre-september applicants and don't send out anymore invites after september'. If they really don't want to view more applications later, they should just put their deadline in october like UCSF, so people who are still applying don't waste their money on them!!

I believe they interview 100 people for the 40 instate spots

Actually most of that went to AADSAS, as Marquette's secondary fee is only like $40. It says optimum consideration and that means optimum, if you apply after this, I know its still possible to get an interview as an out of stater but its still not a great chance.

Marquette's admissions/interview system is trash. I was so mad last year when I submitted my app months before their deadline, not knowing I never had a shot by the time I applied. I guess if they wanna administer fake deadlines to make that $$ that's their prerogative.

LOL...I dont understand why people are bashing so hard on Marquette! Their supplemental fee is only $40, unlike almost every other school I applied to being at least $50 or more and some even $85, so I really doubt they are trying to rake the money in! Its simple, apply early and if you dont, you better do your research so you can avoid the inevitable complaining afterwards!

I completely agree

And their alternative, valid reason for having a falsified "deadline" would be?

I'm not bashing the school... I'm bashing their admissions process. It's not the money...it's the fact that you're applying with 0% chance of acceptance under false pretenses. People could have applied to another school in marquette's spot and been accepted and matriculate.

I really doubt in the history of Marquette that a single person didnt get accepted who applied past that deadline, thats why the school places a clause that states, "for optimum consideration and thats exactly what it is." Early bird gets the worm and if you apply late then that is your problem, why should the school hold a bunch of open spots for later submitters when they can easily accept and interview the early qualified candidates. If they should cater to people who decide to knowingly apply late, whats the incentive to apply early? None. I think you sound extremely cynical because you applied late last year and got upset that you didnt receive an interview, not because you were necessarily not qualified but because you simply applied late in the cycle.

Exactly. My e-detective skills were clearly no match for yours, and I mistakenly assumed that application deadlines explicitly stated in aadsas would be adhered to. I even passed up on some schools because their deadline was within a few months rather than 3+ months away. I stated in my last post why it upsets me... it's misleading and could potentially screw applicants out of a spot in a different school.

sfrice, you would be kind of mad too had you not received an interview from them. The fact that you have one totally changes everything.. I agree with alpha. I could have chosen another school instead of wasting my money and time on Marquette!

The fact of the matter is, you guys could have prevented "wasting your money" on applying to Marquette by doing some research on the school. So many people just apply to all these schools they know nothing about. All you had to do to find out you didn't have a good shot was go to the school's website. Seems like the first thing that you should do when considering applying to a dental school.

optimal consideration != any consideration Reading the website is as misleading as the false deadline. Everyone knows if you apply later your chances diminish...but don't diminish to zero as occurs here.

About 100 instate and 200 out of state applicants.

Thank you for the info! Do you have any idea how many interviewees they do per day? I guess someone who has interviewed here before might have a good answer, but I'm only curious so I can speculate more. It's not really that important. The plan won't change-do the best I can! 👍

16 per interview session. They typically have a morning session and afternoon session, so 32 in a day.
