So I finished the first module of med school (anatomy, histology, development) and did pretty well. I think I figured out how to study and became pretty good at taking the tests.
This module ended and we had the first test of the second module (biochem and physiology) today before winter break. I did horribly on it, and am very worried about this upcoming module. I had gained a lot of confidence in my study and memorization abilities this semester, but am losing it. I felt like I had reasoned through the questions decently today, but obviously didnt.
What sucks the most is I cant fully relax and enjoy my successful first module over winter break.

Has anyone experienced something similar, i.e you were good at anatomy and histology but the first biochem and physio test was extremely difficult for you? How did you bring your grade up?

Thanks!

My first physiology test grade as probably my lowest medical school grade so far, but I did manage to pull it up later. Part was instructor related, but I realized the best way for me to study physiology was to work problems, which is probably different from how you approach anatomy/histology.

My first block neuro grade (first exam of second semester of M1) was by far my lowest grade in med school. You have to find things that work for each different class, so you should expect a re-adjustment phase. If you did well thus far, you'll probably do well in the future, but you shouldn't be too hard on yourself if it takes you a few weeks to get into a new rhythm. I did a lot better in phys than I did in more rote memorization classes like biochem and histo, because I felt like all I needed to do was get the big picture, and it would all fall into place (it did), but other people do better when they have facts to just memorize.
