For those who did well on the MCAT, did you find going over just the EK bio and then the TBR passages according to SN2ed's schedule, prepared you? I ask because my test last year was heavy with molecular bio and EK just seems to be quite brief.

I know someone who got a 10 with only EK and 1 year of intro level biology. I'm using TBR just to be safe, even though TBR has a reputation for overkill. I'm glad TBR explains stuff in depth.

EK helps you stay on track with what is the most important, but they aren't as in-depth as other publishers. You definitely want the EK books but also some more advanced material.

EK is enough in my opinion. Bio section is all about interpreting the data + given information in the passages..

This. I felt like they don't expect you to know that much detail. If you go to the threads about the recent MCAT the overall consensus is that Bio is getting more experimental.

Last time I took the mcat I did it studying with ek only, including the 1001 book. I got an eight on that section, but keep in mind that I also skipped both organic passages on the test. Therefore, it should theoretically be possible to get a ten with ek alone.
