So, I'm wanting to hear some feedback from those who got interviews/acceptances very late in the cycle (Jan-July). I started the 2012 app cycle with gpa in the 3.5 range but low MCAT (20Q). I've retaken the MCAT but no score back yet. I'm on hold pretty much everywhere I've applied because of this. I know I'm not the only one in this position. But it would be encouraging to hear from those who were stuck waiting until the last minute. What did you do to get an interview this late in the game? I already know my chances are slim so I need to hear from those who pulled out a miracle near the end. :xf: Thanks!

I've heard a few stories of people interviewing at the last minute and getting in, it's definitely pretty rare though. Your 20 on the MCAT is going to be a dealbreaker, call and email all of the schools you are on hold with as soon as you get your new score back and you might have a shot. Good luck!

I don't know how applicable my situation is to yours but I can share my story anyways. I got accepted to Touro-CA early June, but I held out and got pulled off the waitlist at AZCOM in mid-July - two weeks before school started! I had to quit my job and move out of state, and let's just say it was not ideal! But I made it work. I blame procrastinating on my secondaries and having late interviews though. My GPA wasn't great, 3.3-ish, but my MCAT was 32, so I don't know how much your MCAT score is holding you back. Hopefully retaking it was a good step! Anyways, just hang in there. I had totally given up on going to med school the first time around, but then my life changed out of nowhere! And if you do have to reapply, its not the end of the world either.

Also, I didn't interview at Touro-CA until the end of May. They told us it was actually the second-best time to interview because the due date had just passed for incoming students final deposits. So everyone that was serious about the school had turned in their deposits, and they still had some space left. Basically they told us if we didn't screw up the interviews we had a very good chance of being accepted. (I did get in two weeks later, but I didn't love the school so I declined). Anyways I don't know if that ever happens at other schools, but I thought I'd share.

Thank you! I'm hoping my new MCAT will be my saving grace.
