From DoD Health Affairs:

"The DoD is pleased to announced several initiatives designed to increase recruiting and retention of medical officers. Effective immediately we are doubling the ISP and ASP bonuses for the first time in 20 years on from roughly $15,000 to $30,000. We are introducing a new bonus called the PSP that will reward productivity and good clinical outcome. We have also directed that all services remove credentials for non-residency trained physicians, return existing GMOs to residency and convert these so-called GMO billets to billets marked for fully trained physicians. Finally, beginning at the major MTFs and over the course of two years we will begin transitioning from AHLTA to the VA's EHR system to provide seamless care for our Veterans both in the fight and at home. Please bear with us as we restructure our military health system for the 21st century. We appreciate your service!"

it won't happen.

I'm sure there are multiple steps along the way before congress signs off...and it will be derailed.

it won't happen.

Happy April Fools ! :laugh::laugh:

The above prodded me to call the special pays guys. There has been some talk of changing the special pay system. Not sure how it is going to look, but they are talking of combining several of the pays. Will have to wait and see.

I followed the link IDg placed earlier in the thread, and was surprised to see that there was a section (up only for a week), where they want to stimulate discussion, (no "bashing"), of retainment and recruitment of physicians.

Although I seriously doubt the moderator of that discussion, or someone in the whole system does not know this site forwards and backwards, I think this is an opportunity for those of us with mil med experience to voice our opinions. Having written extensively about this to my command at the time, and even to congress, I seriously doubt anybody will pay it much mind other that say it's "bashing", but one could hope. I was surprised to see they posted what I wrote, which is along the lines of everything I have said here before. It will be interesting to see if anyone else says something, and if they acknowledge it.

Great post IDg, when I first read it, I had to re-read it twice before I got that it was IMPOSSIBLE.

😆Nice April Fool's Joke!:banana:

I guess I should have read NavyFP's post first. It would be great if it is true, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I have not heard of this
