So I just left a pre-pharm meeting where we had a guy come speak to us from a well known pharmacy school. He said that even if you chose "not to send" your PCAT scores to any schools. meaning only to yourself. The schools STILL see them. I am just blown away by this because I was under the impression that you were the only one to see them. I mean what is the point of even chosing that option if the schools still see them? He said the only way for a pharmacy school not to be able to see your scores is to choose the "no score" option. Did everyone else know this?

i dont understand how thats even possible. When you fill out your pharmcas you have to enter a number from pearson so that your scores can be uploaded to the schools on your app. Otherwise the schools do not see your scores.

Also those scores are confidential.

Pretty sure that schools can request the names and possibly the scores from students in certain areas. Did anyone else start getting alot of pamphlets from other programs after taking the PCAT for the first time?

wow this is good to know! I just don't see that as being possible... Maybe it is just when you send your scores to schools for the first time they will see all PCAT scores from the past.

All I know, is I was telling him how I took the PCAT in January for the first time just to get a feel for it b/c I knew I knew when I took it in July that is the one I was going to study the hardest for. And he said, "you know they will see you score anyways right?" and I said, "No, I didnt chose any schools, I just had the results sent to me only." And he said, "the schools see your scores even if you chose that option, the only way they cannot see them is if you chose no score and you wont get the results yourself." Im pretty sure this guy would know. He's on the admissions staff and he goes around and talks to all the colleges in the southeast.

I think when you ask Pearson to send the scores to schools, they send all your scores at once; you can't pick or choose scores to send.

Yup, I knew about this.

Basically if you do not choose "no score", that means your test will be scored and appear on the report together with your new score later on.

and if you do choose "no score", that means they won't score your test, and no one will know how you did on the test.

But don't worry if you did not do well on the first shot, they see it but they don't care if you can make a positive progress on your future scores!

Good luck!

Yup! This makes sense. I think since you mentioned to the admissions guy that you just wanted to get a feel for the exam the first time around and will study harder for it the second time around, he wanted you to know that all scores from all previous PCAT exams will be on the report sent to the schools. It doesn't matter when you choose to send it to them. They will see all the scores.

I selected the "no score" option when I took my exam the first time around and scored it the second time around.
