did you notify schools that you denied?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was planning on it, but I actually never got to it till yesterday.... at which point I figured it was too late.

wow i really appreciate you guys waiting til last fking minute... 😡

I gave my two weeks notice and also called and canceled up coming interviews

I mailed in if the school provided some kind of form. NYU didn't have one.. so I didn't do anything.

Bitter much?

Yeah I notified the school I wasn't going to as soon as I figured it out. I don't remember when that was exactly, but I did via email.

i can understand why some people might be bitter though.

i think as people who are trying to be in professional field, we should act like one too which means if we are not going to accept the offer we should decline it instead of waiting until the last minute (if you still could not decide then it's fine but if you already knew which one you were going to attend then you should decline)

good luck to everyone who's waiting for 2nd round of acceptances!

the schools were generous enough to show interest in us as applicants so its only fair to be considerate and let them know you won't be attending....

however, i think anyone who had until jan 15th to accept or decline has the right to take all the time they need to decide as long as they notified the school no later than the deadline....

I agree....

Even though I made my decision early I felt the need to wait until the very end just in case. I still felt that 40 days wasn't enough to make an important decision as this. But...yea, I sent the schools an e-mail kinda at the last minute.
Btw... the school I've declined is UCSF folks!

Exactly this. I totally agree that the correct and professional thing to do is to notify when you decide against a school, and if you know for sure you aren't going somewhere, you should definitely tell them. HOWEVER, that being said, that is no reason at all to rush the decision. It's a long and difficult process both leading up to acceptance and then choosing a school, and in my opinion, everyone has the right to take as much time as necessary to finalize things.

But good luck everyone! I'm still waiting on something too
