Hey guys, I am a current second-year dental student and I was hoping somebody who is already a dentist could help me answer a question.
Of all the million diseases and their symptoms we learn in school, how much of it are actually necessary for us to memorize in order to be a competent dentist?
For example, right now we are learning about brown tumor hyperparathyroidism, cherubism, central giant cell granuloma, keratoacanthoma, squamous cell carcinoma.
I do not think I can remember their symptoms and treatment.
Of course I've found other courses obviously necessary to be a competent dentist, for example, clinical labs, gross anatomy, pain and anxiety management, perio, radio, ortho, pedo, etc.
So my question is, how much of what we learn in dental school in terms of hard science do we need to be a competent dentist?
Thanks in advance.
