My program is changing its didactics schedule. Its a new program, so we really don't have much to compare it too. I was wondering what other programs are doing and how much time do you spend a week in didactics? Thanks

5 hours is the required minimum by RRC.

We did all 5 hours in one day with one day each month devoted to self-directed learning for 3 hours, M&M for an hour, and another lecture for the remaining hour. Once/month there was a grand rounds speaker for 1-2 hours. We had morning conference (45 mins) 3 days/week (not included in the 5 hour calculation of formal didactics).

We have a real nice mix of "figure that $hit out" and "Look that $hit up" with a sprinkling of "Let me know how that $hit works out"........

We have 5 hours a week didactics, in addition to weekly 1 hour trauma conference, usually 2-3 times per month 1 hour Sim Lab/Oral board review, and monthly Journal club (separate from our weekly didactics) which usually lasts 3-4 hours.

We had "5" hours a week on one day. In that time we had one attending lecture maybe once a month, journal club, radiology/ekg review, then lectures by the other residents.

How do you run your board review? Do you do certain topics, just go straight out of Peer 7? How often do you do EKG conference/Rads conference?

Thanks, for the replies. I'm at a new program and just trying to figure out ways to make the learning oppurtunity better for us.
