So I'm wondering how much time there is to eat during third year rotations and residency? I assume this will vary depending on specialty. I have pretty sever acid reflux and can only eat small portions at a time, so I end up eating about 6 small meals throughout the day instead of breakfast lunch and dinner. Will this be possible during 3rd year/residency? Is it pretty feasible to carry around small food items (granola bars, bananas, etc.) in your white coat pockets to snack on?

We all eat on the go all the time. Carry your snacks with you. You snack during the lectures.

I feel your pain man. Residency is a terrible time for those of us with reflux. You'll probably put on a few pounds at some point too.

and the weight gain makes the reflux worse...realistically I carried snack bars in my pockets all the time...as well as trail mix..

not a problem. You can easily keep some granola bars in your pockets on rotations. Heck, I still do that on certain residency rotations (like ICU) that I'm fairly sure will be too busy to get a real meal break.

You'll eat fine. I never had a problem with eating in any of my rotations even surgery. They always told me to go eat.
