Hey all, just trying to get some friendly advice here. Any you have would be much appreciated.

Here is the background: I was accepted to school C, my third choice, and am waitlisted at A and B, my first and second choices, respectively. School A has a very long waitlist and takes very few people, while school B's is the opposite. I submitted a LOI to school A a while back, and now that waitlists are (hopefully) moving, have come up with these three options:

Option 1 - Do nothing, remain on both waitlists with the LOI to A and just hope.

Option 2 - Concede that I will not get in to A and withdraw, which would allow me to submit an LOI to B, hopefully increasing my appeal to them enough that they will accept me.

Option 3 - Remain on the A waitlist with a commitment to go there if accepted, but send B a letter saying basically "I've been accepted to C, but if I get in to B, I will decline C and go there" with no mention of them not being my overall top choice.

Sorry for the length there.

You are way overthinking this. I mean, Option 2 has you gaming yourself out of any chance to attend your top choice, and for utterly no reason. The schools have constructed their waitlists and are now just going to grind through them until their classes are full. An LOI isn't going to do jack (in a way your application was your LOI). Just do nothing, wait it out, and hope for the best.

Congrats on School C, BTW.

I think you should send something to school B, even if its just a hey its me! I'm still here and still very interested! You don't have to promise them anything, just remind them how interested you are.
