I will apply only to DO schools. What should I do to be somewhat competitive? Non traditional 35y, RN for 5 years 3.2 cGPA 3.4sGPA, MCAT 27P
Shadowing: 100 hours (40 hours infectious disease (MD), 60 hours Family medicine(DO).
EC: Was in Haiti for 4 days helping after the quake.

You should commit a solid year (at least) doing some non-med volunteer work that you will enjoy. Also, shadow a DO and obtain a letter of rec. Since you are applying for 2012, you can retake the MCAT. Lastly, getting some research on your app will make you a nice well-rounded applicant.

Disregard the DO advice. Just saw you had it. I think the non-med volunteering is your best bet.
