difference between species longevity and... (AAMC FL 5 - BS)

What's the difference between species longevity and "many individuals of a species having relatively long lifespans". This is in relation to question 130 on AAMC FL 5.

Hey Pan I think for that question you have to thing along these lines
"to be successful, you don't need to live for a long time. as long as you can reproduce, you will be successful"
on the otherhand, if you can live for a long time, but your reproductive maturity comes much later in life, then that is useless

I just don't see how the two (species longevity and many individuals having relatively long lifespans) are different. There must be some kind of nuance in the language I'm not getting. Just wanted clarification on that.

there may not be a difference between the two, but I don't think you need to know that to answer the questions. Because the question uses the term "successful"

I agree. If I'm reasoning this right, based on what you've offered and the other response, I think I can help.

Species longevity is how long the SPECIES as a WHOLE persists not how long individuals of the species live.

Lifespan is how long an INDIVIDUAL of the species live.

Let's look at an example with some fake numbers. Assume species A has been around for millions of years. An individual of species A usually lives about 5 days. Species B, however, has only been around for the past century when it evolved from something else. An individual of species B lives approximately 2-3 years depending on environmental conditions, food availability, etc.

Which species (A or B) has greater species longevity? In which species (A or B) is there a greater lifespan?
