Difference btwn residency and IDP

hi,

I need to know the difference between doing a GPR/ AEGD residency and IDP?
I know Residency is probably cheaper but, what kind of certificate do we receive? Will we still be DDS? How much does it limit us in working? Do we get paid less or the same?
