Why does the NRMP website have less quota than that posted in the dept. website? For example Univ. of Oklahoma has 4 positions (as per the dept. website) but only 3 in the NRMP website.

If they filled a spot outside the match they would have to remove it from their "match" spots.

Did you confirm when you interviewed that they are actually hiring for 4 positions next year? Or is it that they've filled 4 positions historically and you assume they're doing the same this year?

Several of the places I interviewed have unusual deficits or excesses that they need to account for this year.

Some schools may have an empty spot an older class that they are waiting to fill once the old class graduates.

This may no longer be true, but when I applied a lot of info was woefully out of date. Frieda, program websites, even NRMP. I guess I would just ask the program director or program coordinator if you are really curious. Sometimes things change because they decide to take someone out of the match that was unanticipated.

That's true. We have to decrease our quota in the NRMP when we take someone outside of the match. We could also change our quota to accept more applicants if we have lost someone in another year. The information on our website has the number of slots we normally fill in a given year, not the actual number. The ACGME website would tell you how many total slots a program is approved to have. I hope this helps.

It seems programs have time until Jan 31 to finalize their quota in NRMP.
