Probably a stupid question:

Is there a big difference between the 2008 version of FA and the 2010 version?

Yes. They've added a lot of new topics since then and fixed a lot of errors (although new errors keep popping up for some reason). If you're going to start studying before December, get the 2010 edition, if you're not going to start before December, wait till then so you can get the 2011 edition.
