Is it problematic (logistically, from the schools' point of view) if my "preferred address" on AMCAS is different from the more recently submitted "preferred address" on my secondary app?

I just found a new place for 2008-2009 a couple of weeks ago, moved in, and would like to start putting down my new school address on future secondaries... without having to deal with updating AMCAS and/or all of my submitted school secondaries (I did tell my parents to forward me any admissions-related mail to my new address).

For one secondary I submitted today, I put down a different preferred address than AMCAS without thinking it'd be a problem; but now that I think about it, it might... anyone know?

I just dealt with this a month ago...it's really easy to change your address on AMCAS....just go to biographical info, change your address, and MAKE SURE you press submit application again so AMCAS can officially update. As long as you're putting your updated address on your secondaries, I don't think you'll have a problem. Med schools understand that most applicants are in a transitionary period and are likely to move around during the essentially year-long application process. If you're really worried, especially about schools to which you've already sent secondaries, just call the admissions offices and ensure they have your new address so you don't miss any correspondence. You can also go to the USPS website to officially change your address so all your mail to your old address gets forwarded.
