Different body cavities

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You should know what and where the mouth is. The other human orifices are not important.

They will most likely provide a definition of the specific cavity in the passage. I wouldn't waste time memorizing the different ones (peritoneum, pericardium, etc.); but do understand something like how the negative pressure in the pleural space prevents lungs from collapsing.

Be very familiar with the ventral cavity placing an emphasis on the abdominal and thoracic cavity. Know the organs within these cavities, their functions, and their response to stimuli.
If you are concerned about whether the peritoneum or pericardium are required information, the best source to confirm with is the content outlines provided by the AAMC. Every student should review these with a magnifying glass.

Cheers!
