Before I decided to go to med school, in my sophomore year I took a 100 level Bio course called Keys to the Human Identity that focused mostly on genetics/evolution. When I decided to go pre-med I used that as my prereq to get into Bio 112/102 (2nd semester of general) and have continued with my prereqs from there. My question is whether med schools will have an issue with me having taken a different intro. bio course than the normal general biology 111 or 101 that is recommended for pre-med students? The class I took did have an accompanying lab.

It won't be a problem, because it shows an upward trend in course difficulty. If it did come up in an interview you have a valid reason for it.
