Are some types of research experience viewed as "better" by admissions committees? In other words, I currently have 2 opportunities to choose between – one is in a lab, the other is a clinical study. Would one of these be inherently better for application purposes? I'm guessing it doesn't really matter, but just wanted some input. Thanks!

It makes no difference to the admissions committee.

Do whatever interests you more, because research sucks ass if it bores you.

The clinical research might be better if it nets you contact with human research subjects. It also depends on the study. If you are doing psychiatric interviews for research, some adcoms might call that clinical experience.

I had the same question in the past. The overwhelming opinion was that it doesn't matter, just choose what you enjoy.

If it helps, I chose the clinical research and it's been MUCH more enjoyable than what I expected the bench research to be. most of what I do is actually going patient to patient to enroll them in studies, so it's actually awesome direct patient experience also. Good luck
