You do realize that the Tri-C program is done jointing with Cleveland State, so you will be taking courses at both schools?

Hey guys, I could really use some help with this decision.

I've been accepted into two PA programs, Marquette University and Cuyahoga Community College in Ohio, but can't determine which one would be the smartest choice. Marquette is instate for me, so I would like to go there to stay close to home. Unfortunately it will cost me an extra $40,000 in loans. So I'm leaning toward Cuyahoga. The only thing I'm left wondering is if there is a significant difference in the ranking/quality of the programs. Does anyone have an opinion?

P.S. I have to have an answer by wednesday morning to save my seat!

Hard decision. Part of this depends on where you want to live and work. Out of state at Tri-C is about $40k less than Marquette. Tri-C is well regarded in Ohio. Outside of Ohio it has kind of a mixed reputation becuase of problems in the past with their surgical PA program (which has since closed). Marquette is very well regarded nationally.

If I am reading things correctly the cost with the Masters from Cleveland State University is higher. The PAEA directory lists the out of state Tuition at $55k which makes the costs a little closer. I would clarify the costs as this may help you make the decision. If you want to work in Ohio you have to have the Masters.

I might also help to take a look at the PANCE pass rates here or here.

This is probably a reflection of the fact that the Marquette faculty run one of the top review courses in the nation😀.

Overall its a good decision to have. You are going to get a good education either place. If you want to work and live in one particular place then the program located there will probably get you more ins for jobs. Also you might consider the practice act of the individual states. This impacts what you are able to do as a student. In my opinion Wisconsin > Ohio there.

You might want to ask this question on the PA forum but you might not get an answer by Wednesday.
