This book is driving me nuts. Some passages are incredibly straightforward and others I am completely clueless about. Have others experienced this or is it my own different competencies? Granted I'm just finishing up the first section of the first book but I'm curious about people's experiences. Thanks!

I've heard that the material is tougher BR than the actual MCAT questions, but I haven't really found it too difficult yet (im in the second book). Most of the questions are, in the end, critical thinking questions so you really have to concentrate. The only section that I hated was the solubility, and that's just cause we didn't really cover that a whole lot in my gen chem class.

I think that's by design, because my MCAT was like that too. There were some easy passages that were straight forward and then there were a few that made me go WTF? I thought that the general chem passages in BR were mostly doable, with maybe two passages per section that made me go WTF? In the end, I was glad they were like that, because it prepared me for the real thing.

Just keep sticking with it. It'll pay off on test day when you get a bizarre passage.

The key though is to not freak out. Many complex passages contain extra information, or may seem advanced, but are still really only testing a basic concept. Stay calm, and just focus on: what basic science knowledge is this passage asking me or getting at? Take a deep breath and dive back in if necessary. Sometimes, the oddest or most difficult passages will have the easier questions in my experience, so remain calm, take your time while remaining on pace, and key in on what basic knowledge is this passage testing and you should be fine.

This is golden wisdom that everyone should take to heart.
