I'll be starting there in August and was just wondering if there are any major curriculum or teaching methodology differences (that may affect difficulty) between Columbia and some other smaller more clinically focused dschools?

I guess I never really considered that going to an ivy dschool could make the next 4 years significantly more difficult than need be... and now I'm a little anxious.

I'm just now hearing that I'll probably be doing more essays and less multiple choice tests... more required material to be covered... more and/or longer research papers, etc...

I know I should have thought of these things sooner, but I didn't... and now I feel like I might be getting myself in over my head... I just want to do the best I can to properly prepare/brace myself for the start of the semester, assuming I did somewhat underestimate it.

I'm finishing up my first year right now at Columbia and I want you to know that it's not that bad. All of the exams we take with the med students are multiple choice. The dental exams are mostly multiple choice with some fill in the blank and a few short responses. Don't stress. The new curriculum had some issues this year (which fell upon my class unfortunately) but that will all be fixed by the time you start. I don't think many current students look on SDN anymore, so you should post to the facebook page if you have questions.
