Difficulty of Getting In?

Hey guys,

I don't want to stir up a debate or anything, but is getting into a Caribean medical school significantly easier than getting into an American medical school? If so do any of you have or know of any articles with facts/figures to show this. Thanks in advance.

my rough estimate is between 3.0-3.5 GPA/science GPA and an MCAT between 20-29 if you want to get into one of the main four schools like SGU/Ross/AUC/Saba

You know I have a friend who goes to Queens University Medical and she says that the Canadian reqs are far more selective than the American counterpart. Is this true?

Interesting also how Canadian med schools only accept Canadian students.

Yes, for a variety of reasons, Canadian medical schools have far too many qualified applicants per seat and that drives up the stats. For most schools, the minimum requirements to qualify for an interview are a 3.7 and a 30 MCAT. People with 3.9+ GPA and 30+ MCAT fail to get accepted far too often and that explains why Canadians are filling up Irish, Australian, Central/Eastern European and Caribbean medical schools.

The Canadian medical system is highly protectionist and creates artificial shortages at all levels to retain power.

Talk about high stats; Canadian medical school reqs look like that of Veterinarian pre-reqs to me, lol.
