Hi, a quickie about diffraction grating vs double slit.
The passage says that diffraction grating gives fewer spots, so I understood that those fringes would be brighter than double slit.
But then it also says that diffraction spots would be narrower, and that "a bright spot would not be spread over much of the screen because any spreading quickly reduces the chance that all slits are interfering constructively."
I am confused by this because at first, I thought fewer spots meant they would be farther away from each other. Why would fewer spots be closer to each other?
