digestion vs absorption

where does digestion start and begin, and where does absorption begin?
i found an mcat discussion on it but no one really answered...


I think:

Digestion: Mouth --> Duodenum

Absorption: Duodenum ---> Illeum ( Small Intestine)

Reabsorption: Large Inestine

thats what i have been studying and i believe it is correct.
digestion begins in the mouth with the breakdown of starches via salavary amylase.
gets to the stomach more breakdown, moves to the duodenum where it finishes up digestion and begins absorption. in the LI absoprtion of minerals and water.

in the mouth mechanical digestion and chemical begins.
technically absorption begins in the stomach with alcohol absorption, for DAT its the duodenum.

Well, IMO, very little absorption occurs in the duodenum compared to the amount of digestion...I think overall very little absorption occurs in the duodenum.
