Hi,
Can anybody clarify the notes below:
According to Dr. Collins biology section, proteases are present in saliva; in this way, protein digestion should be started in the mouth; However, my high school biology book states that saliva just contains amylase, mucus and water. And that book mentioned that protein digestion occurs in the stomach.

Secondly, according to dr collins biology section, majority of digestion and nutrient absorption takes place in Ilium. However, my high school book said that majority of digestion occurs in doudenum and majority of absorption occurs in jejunum.

Lipase (lipid/fat) and amylase (carbohydrates) are the only enzymes found in saliva ----- no protease/protein digestion.

The duodenum completes digestion of chyme from the stomach, jejunum is responsible for most nutrient absorption, ileum (although larger than the jejunum) is responsible for vitamin B12/water soluble vitamins/bile salts/remaining nutrient absorption.
