digital voice recorder

Has anyone ever used a digital voice recorder before?? Is there a particular brand you would recommend?

I use a Sony recorder. It works really well and the battery lasts forever! It took me a while to figure out how to turn it off though because I didn't read the instructions (oops) but other than that I've had no problems with it. Unfortunately, I haven't used any other brand so I have nothing to compare it to, I just have a preference of sony when it comes to audio devices, they seem to be the most reliable (basing that on a meriad of CD players that I owned mainly from back in the day).

i've seen a lot of people just use their ipods. if i had one, i'd use it. i have an olympus from costco. it's neat cuz you could download lectures onto your computer if you need more room. i think it only holds like 5 hrs or so. and it's worked out for friends cuz i've burned them CDs if they weren't able to catch everything in lecture.

also check out the livescribe, that one looks REALLY neat!

oh, and some people just use their laptops to record. its cheap.

I have the best recorder in the world its an Olympus Digital Voice Recorder , the model number is WS-321M. Best recorder ever. The sound is so crisp its like you being right there. It sucks battery life like a mofo though!

I have the smartpen from LiveScribe. Its really neat. I haven't actually used it yet for lectures since I'm a nontrad and I'm not in classes anymore, but it has settings for an auditorium vs a small classroom and it really records very well. Plus everything can then sync with your computer. Later you can go back and tap the pen on any place you've written in your notes and it will play back the audio starting from that section. Syncing to the computer takes no time at all, you just dock the pen and about 30 seconds later you can take the pen again. Really pretty cool! My fiance likes this one so much he'll probably keep it and I'll prob get another one before I start vet school

While a bit pricey for just a voice recorder, my IPod Touch (only second gen's have the capacity) is an excellent voice recorder.

Only problem I've ever had with it, is the prof. hit/touched it during a lecture (I would leave it up on the podium), and somehow the music turned on - was very embarrassing.

does anyone know of any that are compatible with mac computers? (im partial to them!)
