I've been studying cards pharm and I'm finding conflicting data.

Class notes say digoxin decreases sympathetic activity leading to decreased arterial and venous pressure. Other sources say the decreased HR acts to increase BP via the baroreceptor reflex.

Seems like there would be increased BP as a result of the decreased HR. Also, I'm assuming the HR decrease is due to increased intracellular Ca affecting Ca influx based on the gradient?

Digoxin increase parasympathetic activity on the heart ( the reason why you might see a heart block with digoxin toxicity) which decreases HR ( this has nothing to do with baroreceptors as they only respond to high pressure to decease HR not the other way around). If digoxin had the ability to increase BP it would be due to increased contractility which might increase systolic BP.

Yeah thanks. Sometimes I feel like I just need to sit and think about the issue and see my flawed thought process before asking the question. Thanks for the help.
