I plan to re-take the MCAT this summer but want to apply this upcoming cycle. Can I just apply and update my MCAT score later? Also does anyone know is there a D.O. version for in state or out of state bias and gpa mcat cutoff data? Thank you.

Here is cutoff data, it does not include new schools opening this year for the 2019-2020 cycle.

Since you have yet to take the MCAT, get your application and everything else into AACOMAS. Apply to one school that you do not want to go or will hold on your application for your MCAT score in order to get verified. AACOMAS will then verify your application and you can update it when you have your MCAT score. This way as soon as that score is updated on your app, you can send your app to schools instead of waiting the verification time of 1-3 weeks.

Op is retaking. I wouldn’t submit primary till you get your score since schools can evaluate your app based on what you have and dont have to wait for you to get your new mcat score. Imagine a school getting 10k apps, they’ll be way too busy to set your app aside and check back for a new score and reviewing it again later.

No med school is obligated to wait for your new score. You'll be screened on your current score.

As the DO cycle is longer than MD, you can retake and then apply, even as late as October.

Hi Ki!

Only research minimum requirements. Median requirements ARE NOT set in stone. Don't let them deter you. If you're under the minimum obviously don't apply but many schools will not list a minimum especially with MCAT scores. If your MCAT or GPA is low, try to strengthen your application with extra-curricular activities (research, volunteer work, shadowing, scribing, leadership opportunities, etc.). Give yourself an edge. Remember your application is more than just those two numbers!

It's not that bad, it just gets a lot of hate for being a Christian school with a code of conduct aligned with Christian values. Message me if you have any questions or want more in-depth information.

Let me be clear that the following is not advice to anyone and is only a product of my personal beliefs:

I would have to strongly consider taking a Caribbean acceptance over LUCOM if I was in that position, or simply choosing another path.

I’m serious.

I’m beyond certain I would not be happy there and that it would seriously - and negatively - impact my academic performance. I’m not willing to torture myself for four years with the added benefit of being looked down upon as a graduate coming from LUCOM in particular (see Gyngyn - and others’ - comments of the school).

I can’t speak for others. This may be the dream of another student or others may have a bigger stomach for the nonsense they spout. However, I want absolutely nothing to do with that school. Ever. I feel very strongly about that.

I don’t want to derail the thread any more. I’d be happy to discuss in DMs if anyone wants to talk about it some more, but I’m not going to reply about it any more on this thread!

Here is why I can't recommend LUCOM:
I have a profound distaste for the politics of their parent organization; their Faculty make blatant attempts to twist facts to match their theology.
From the wise gyngyn: Liberty is poorly regarded due to the history of intolerance of their founding fathers. This school's reputation for intolerance puts its grads at a disadvantage at many reputable residency programs.

LUCOM definitely has far better outcomes than any Caribbean school. If you can't bear conservatism/fundamentalism, then I understand why you wouldn't want to attend. But I bet most people would make it through just fine.
