I have significant clinical experience (over 10 years in a foreign country) and about 600 hours 3 years ago in the US.

I emailed my state school about clinical experience and they said they prefer more recent experience but understand not everyone can meet this requirement.

Given that med schools receive many qualified candidates I realize its very important to be competitive.

I have been looking for a part time position for over 6 months now but all I can find is full time. I have been offered a full time position but I am worried that my grades and MCAT prep may suffer as a result. Because spring semester is online that does help but I still have to study hard for the MCAT. Also I wanted to get a letter of recommendation from a physician and thought this would be a good way of doing that.

I was thinking if it gets too much I could quit after a few months, but then will this look bad on my application and would the physician still give me a recommendation letter?

Go for it and if it becomes overwhelming, then quit. You don't have to list the experience on your primary apps and no one can ever tell.

OP wasn't explicit, but it seems like the physician may be the one involved in the full time job.

If so, OP, you can still do it. Just understand that you'll likely have to forgo listing the experience and getting the letter of rec. If it was me as the doc and you quit after a few months, I wouldn't likely be inclined to write you a glowing letter.

Scribing
COVID screening
Contact tracing.

Or, be patient and wait until he crisis is over. Med schools aren't going anywhere.

I spoke to the practice manager and she said they will schedule me so that I am working 5 days one week and 3.5 days the next and will review hours with me if I get overwhelmed in Spring. They seem like a really nice practice. Don't know any practices that are that accommodating, normally they would say this is what we need, if you can't do it then we will find someone else.
